Piedmont Farm Tour Scheduled

Farmers in the Piedmont area (outside of Raleigh) have announced their Spring 2016 tour dates. Supported by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA), the Spring 2016 farm tours will be held on April 23-24, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Farm tours are a great way to connect farmers and consumers, and for visitors to learn more about their local farms and farmers. Children are especially welcome on the tours and enjoy learning about the animals and participating in special activities just for them.

Lomax Farm Accepting Applications for Farmers in Training

Individuals interested in starting a farm-based business can enroll in the Farmer-in-Training (F.I.T.) program at Lomax Incubator Farm in Cabarrus County. Participants will receive classroom instruction as well as hands-on experience on the farm. Farmers also receive access to shared equipment and facilities, support from experienced farmers, and assistance in finding land to rent or purchase. The next application deadline is July 1, 2015.
